Secrets of the bookcase

A built in bookcase in the parlor was removed to reveal the old wallpaper behind it...

... part of the wall went with the bookcase. The plaster was weakened there by large nails.

Sample of oldest wallpaper from parlor...three levels down. I think it was supposed to look like a birch tree. There are highlights of silver in it which would have picked up and reflected candle light, prior to the house being electrified.
